ING New York City Marathon Registration Details

NYC Marathon

The ING New York City Marathon has announced the registration details for the 2013 race.  As with all past years this year will again feature a lottery to select runners for an opportunity to register.  The 2012 race was cancelled last year due to the damage from hurricane Sandy that hit just a week before the race.  Runners had the opportunity to either receive a refund or defer their registration to the 2013, 2014 and 2015 races.

Registration for the lottery opens on April 24th and runs until May 24th.  There are ways to gain guaranteed entry into the race, they are: 2012 Marathoners who chose guaranteed Entry for 2013, NYRR-member 9+1 qualifiers, time qualifiers who achieved the standard in NYRR qualifying events, people who have run 15 or more New York City marathons,  being denied three times previously, charity Partner Program participants, entry through an International Travel Partner.

Depending on how many guaranteed entries are handed out to those groups will determine how many spots will be allocated for the lottery.

The NYC marathon is one of the best races that I’ve ever run, it definitely should be on the bucket list for all runners.  As time gets closer I’ll write more in detail about the race and training but an early tip: incorporate a lot of hills into your training!
